Think classic Brit Blues players of the late sixties. The HV58 has the sound down to a tee. The development of this legendary pickup took many hours, and a bin-ful of rejected windings. To get it just right, Alan went on sound over specification, listening for hours to those incredible players on those incredible albums. Fully Beano certified!

Alnico V magnets, enamel coated winding wire, scatter-wound coils, and hard nickel pole pieces. The pickups are wax potted, but unlike modern pickup designs they are not vacuum processed as this reduces the natural gaps in the windings, which is partly responsible for the vintage flavour and response. Just a very versatile humbucker whether your sound is clean, crunch or…….more.

Pick from the equally attractive Nickel or Gold coloured casing for the classic look PAF-style humbucker, or ‘Zebra’ if you prefer the open look.

Alan Entwistle guitar pickups are supplied unboxed and with mounting screws and springs (where model-appropriate). All our humbucking guitar pickups are wired with the ability to be coil-split so a wiring diagram is provided that shows how to wire for ‘standard non-split’, ‘simple split’, ‘partial phasing’ and ‘series/parallel’ configurations.
We recommend that an experienced guitar technician installs your guitar pickups.

This is like our classic HV58 but with a Neodymium bar magnet replacing the standard Alnico one. It’s a pickup all on it’s own, really. A humbucker that can almost sound like a single coil. It will cut through anything. Vintage-like tones but with much higher treble and more grunt.

Our overwound version of the classic late ’50s, vintage spec humbucker, made with Alnico V magnetics, enamel coated winding wire, scatter-wound coils, and hard Nickel pole-pieces. Great for coil splitting. They are overwound, so expect more power, and more warmth than the standard version. The pickups are wax potted, but unlike modern pickup designs they are not vacuum processed as this reduces the natural gaps in the windings. These gaps are partly responsible the for the vintage flavour and response.

Our colour options currently feature either ‘dark gold-coloured’ or ‘white gold-coloured’ adjustable pole pieces! Please choose the desired colour in the shop listing. Please note: The ‘white gold-coloured’ poles are a very subtle gold, but not quite nickel-coloured in appearance. Send a message if unsure.

The HVX is a versatile medium output pickup. Think of a hotter PAF, with added top, slightly nasal mids and a tight bottom end. Basically, an over-wound HV58 (like the HV58 PLUS) but with a Ceramic magnet to give the different tonal quality.

Performs well with coil splitting and parallel wiring. It also excels when wired out of phase with another HVX.

This is the Neodymium version of the Dark Star, taking things a step further which has made it very popular  with the metalhead Entwistle fans. It is quite possibly the worlds most powerful passive humbucker. The bridge position has a similar DCR to the HDN, but sounds different due to it’s different winding pattern. There are also good results to be had experimenting with coil splits.

We decided to take the concept of the Nemesis to the next level. AFG stands for Asymmetrical Field Generator, and the clue is in the name. The Nemesis AFG has a central Alnico V bar magnet, with a Ceramic magnet on the blade side of the pickup, creating the asymmetrical magnetic field, which results in a truer single coil sound with less volume-drop when the coil split is activated.

Currently available with Black or Nickel pole pieces!

HDN, or High Definition Neodymium, was our first Neodymium pickup, and in fact one of the very first Neodymium pickups in the world. High in output, but with definition that is razor sharp – so much so that some active pickup users have changed over to using the HDN. It really is “Power with Tone”.
