ALAN ENTWISTLE has been involved in the guitar industry, in one role or another, for most of his life. At a young age he heard the unmistakeable ‘twang‘ of an electric guitar and was hooked on the sound, the instrument, the aesthetics, the players and of course, the electronics.
His first foray into the world of guitar electronics involved a ‘borrowed’ public telephone microphone and his father’s stereo. Luckily for us, his designs became more sophisticated as his knowledge of guitars and electronics grew.
ALAN graduated from Art College with an eye for design. He taught himself how to set-up and repair guitars, a skill that was in short supply during the electric boom of the late 60s, and so he did quite well, getting know locally as one of the ‘go-to’ guys to make your guitar playable!
He progressed to making his own guitars, earning the title of ‘luthier’ for his electric creations, both in England and later in Australia and New Zealand, having moved to the Southern Hemisphere in the late 70s.

ALAN has always been inspired by those iconic 60s brands such as Hofner, Framus, Klira, Vox, Moserite and, of course, Burns. During this period was when he really started to experiment with the electronics of the electric guitar, both with what he installed in newly-built guitars and what he designed as ‘after-market’.
