CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: I’ve been lucky enough to tour with some of my early heroes – Fairport Convention, Ralph McTell, and played some wonderful festivals at home and abroad. Add in to that the unexpected bonus of landing the Andertons gig, and the work I do demoing guitars for lots of people, and I just count myself very lucky that I’m able to do what I do, and it’s still enormous fun.

PREFERRED PICKUPS, AND WHY: I love the HV58 ZB NP- the unpotted ones! – in my hollow-body. These are some of the best vintage-style humbuckers I’ve played. I prefer unpotted pickups as I love the way the guitar reacts with the microphonic pickups and the whole thing comes ‘alive’ and these do that really nicely. They’re really dynamic, and very responsive, and have a wonderful clarity that is often missing from humbuckers. Really lovely for jazz all the way to heavier classic rock style stuff.

BIOGRAPHY:

I’ve been playing since I was 9 years old, and although I was learning classical guitar, I was also teaching myself blues, folk, rock and country, and started gigging when I was 13. Over the years I’ve played most styles, and have been fortunate enough to play lots of great festivals and tours, teach, as well as lots of recording on guitar, vocals and pedal steel. I’ve also managed to wangle my way into doing quite a lot of guitar demo work for lots of people – Vintage, REVO, Rapier, Andertons, PRS etc.. which has been a real treat.
